4 Rules For All Single People To Follow During The Holidays!

Well here we are, the final days before the official start of the holidays. Most of us will be heading back home, attending parties with old friends and of course spending lots of time reflecting on love lost and love we want to have in the new year.

This is where things get dark and bleek. During the rest of the year, we are strong independent people who avoid all weak moments of the heart- but when the holidays roll around, things get tough.

In order to help keep us all in line and not make any mistakes we WILL regret- I present to you my "5 Rules For All Single People to Follow During The Holidays!"

1. DO NOT Call/Text/Smoke Signal an EX

Sure, the snow is falling, your up to your chin in holiday spirit and maybe you've been witness to too many couples kissing under the Mistletoe- but let's be honest for a second, these are NOT good reasons for you to call an ex!

The holidays make everyone UBER sentimental and it hits us all like a drug- begging us to do something silly like call your ex. You wonder how they are doing, if they are in town and how they were maybe "not so bad after all."

Do yourself a favor and throw your phone in the ocean. This is a bad idea on so many levels. Leave your past in the past and work on writing a brighter future with a new flame.

2. DO NOT Do A Drive By

When you don't know any better and your teenage hormones are clouding all your judgement, doing something crazy like a driving by the house of an ex is totally acceptable. But not now, you are a grown adult and you should know better.

There is NO reason why you should be acting like a poor man's James Bond and sneaking around your ex's neighborhood like a cop on a stake out.

Leave the drive by stalking to the crazy ex's - and you my dear, are not one of them.

3. DO NOT SEND A CARD... OR A GIFT!

Sure, it was 99 cents and sure, you had an extra stamp, too much time and three egg nog martini's.

But sending a card to an ex is absolutely FORBIDDEN. Sending a Gift will get you kicked out of the entire village "Game of Thrones" Style: #SHAME #SHAME #SHAME

Not only is this a waste of time and money, but it's also a waste of emotions. You have nothing to gain from keeping the lines of communication open with an ex.

My Mom always told me "Don't burn your hand holding a torch for your ex-boyfriend"

Listen to my Mother- and Me.

4. DO NOT Meet For Drinks

Drinks lead to flirting, flirting leads to rehashing old memories and all of that combined leads to "SEX WITH THE EX"

If you are ever visually assulted by a text, email, Snapchat or Tweet by an ex looking to "catch up" - do yourself a favor...Delete the message and never EVER respond.

You have the upperhand in this game, so keep it that way.
