Chemistry, Woman’s Instinct, or Sabotage: Why do we open up to some people and shut down others?

I rack my brain over this question often when I consider what compels us to let some people in and dismiss others in dating. Most recently, I’ve been pondering on it because I received a love letter from a long time friend who wants to take our relationship to the next level. I’ve had an inkling for years that he was interested, but I didn’t feel compelled to act on it, so I’ve kept our relationship strictly platonic. My mom often asks me why I won’t consider the possibility, and my response is always the same, “Mom, I’d know it in my gut if I liked him. If I don’t feel it, I’m not going to lead him on just to try it out.” The other day, she threw me a curve ball, “Well, you said ‘you knew

Designer Spotlight: Richie Designs Cards That Make Us Smile!

For as long as I can remember, I have always obsessed over buying greeting cards. When I was a child, I used to love taking trips to the Hallmark store where I'd spend hours looking at all the cards. I would meticulously explore the different categories of cards from birthdays weddings. In my head I would make note of the best greetings and designs like I was some sort of greeting card connoisseur. (Which I still believe I am today) As I got older, my obsession grew into finding local handmade cards, especially letterpress cards. I love running my fingers over the print and feeling the indentations in the paper from the printing process. It's a whole other level of card making. This is how

No pressure from anyone to get married and no biological clock ticking, pushing us to have kids by a certain age. But here we are, the gay wedding doors have come bursting open and gay men and women are getting engaged left and right. The passing of

Then, like the magic of a thousand One Direction fans showing up to buy tickets to a concert- one day I was sold! Once you realize how fun and EASY most DIY’s have become- it get’s pretty addicting. I love it when people say “You made that?” or “You did that yourself?!” It’s like I’m a modern day hero! Maybe Martha Stewart has been hogging the spotlight all these years because nobody called her bluff. But I am here to tell you folks. YOU. CAN. DIY!
