My Journey Back To Guam

How It All Started... It had been almost 20 years since I left the tiny island of Guam, and headed to California. Three days after I graduated from my high school, I hopped on a plane and never looked back. Needless to say, I was eager to start a new chapter in my life. I spent the last 20 years on a journey of self discovery in my career, love and life. There were many times when I would think back to my childhood home on Guam and wondered when I would be able to take to the time to visit again. Between schedule conflicts and work, I just could never make the time to plan a sollid trip back. Then something amazing happened. It was just shy of a month ago that I made a video to show my su

Chic Summer Getaways for Every Couple! A Finding Cupid Exclusive from "The Days of Chic!&quot

Summer is upon us and with that comes the excitement of the plans we all attempt to squeeze into a few short months. However, with the excitement can also come the overly vocal, bragging of the fabulous things the people we know, "they," have planned this summer. We can relate can all relate to this, and are probably guilty of a little bragging in the guise of our excitement & the overall brag-worthiness of the experience we had planned. This summer, instead of feeling down when your summer plans are not stacking up to "theirs," turn it into inspiration for a regional version or a staycation concept. I especially, love these more accessible but equally enjoyable twists on some of summers mos

The Business & Love: 6 Truths I Learned From My Break Up!

In my last post, I told you about my break up and how I used meditation to help me avoid the coulda-would-shoulda land and the what-if world. Instead of resisting this seemingly awful change in my life, I tried to embrace it and stay open to the possibilities it might bring. I was determined to look at this moment where I’d been emotionally torn apart as an opportunity to put myself back together again as a better more enlightened version of myself. As many heart broken people tend to do, I started reading and listening to all of the best self-help gurus I could find--Deepak Chopra, Eckhart Tolle, Marianne Willamson, Tony Robins; the list goes on and on. I got a life coach and a therapist. I

Son Helps Mom Look For Love!

When it comes to love, there are many things that make my heart melt. From movies to books and engagements and weddings, I have seen it all... until now. Today, a friend of mince sent me link to a video on YouTube. It was made by a young Norwegian named Alex Norgay and the video (which is a heartwarming tribute to his love for his mother) was created to help find her a boyfriend. Not only is his gesture in searching the world a sweet one, but his overall message of love and human kind, is pretty awesome too. I will admit, it made me cry a bit. Watch the video below and tell me what you think! If you know anyone that could be a great fit, please email me at David@Finding-Cupid.com. I feel lik

Mothers Day Memories... The good, the bad and the gosh darn cute ones

As we gather to celebrate our Moms this coming Mothers Day, it's often sweet to reminisce on some of the fond memories we have with our Moms! Team Cupid gathered a few of thier favorite memories to share with all of us! Share a funny punishment your Mom gave you as a child for misbehaving- and what did you do? "Our next door neighbor was a sweet old Italian lady who would make me nutella waffles. Mum would give me a piece of fruit and ask me to play in the backyard - with strict instructions not to go round to the neighbors house. As soon as she was out of sight, I’d throw the apple in the bushes, pick some flowers (that were probably weeds) and take them round to Antoinetta’s place knowing

Protecting an Invaluable Gift, A Mothers Day Story

“Hey Mom… It’s Friday. Can we stop for an ice cream?” I was 5 years old. It was a typical Friday for us. My mom had spent her morning cleaning other peoples’ houses, and I had spent my morning in kindergarten. We were driving home in our red Mitsubishi that had a habit of stalling when going up hills, and it couldn’t always be trusted to drive on flat ground either. “Yes, I think we can do that.” She took a quick look in her purse and stopped for a second, “Natalie, I left my wallet at home. Do you have your purse? Check and see how much change you have. I will pay you back when we get home.” I picked up my little red polka dotted purse that perfectly matched my dress, and I quickly pulled o

The Lesson I Learned From Heartbreak!

The Place I Landed My journey in dating at 30 started when my boyfriend and I broke up about 2 years ago. This blog is not intended to detail all of the trials and tribulations of my past relationship or walk you through the trauma that was my break up, but I mention the story because it’s these types of life changing experiences that make up who we are and how we show up in future relationships. Everyone has experienced some type of heartbreak. It’s one of those awful moments in your life when you feel as though no one could possibly understand the pain you’re in, and then you quickly realize that this is actually one of the only universal experiences that everyone can relate to.
